HISTORY MISSION
In 1996, breast cancer caught Diane Proulx Guerrera completely by surprise.
Following a biopsy, chemotherapy and radiation, Diane was declared cancer free.

Both Diane and her husband wanted to ensure that there would be funds available to continue the research and treatments that had saved her life and to improve the outcome for those affected by breast cancer. In this spirit, they founded the CURE Foundation for breast cancer in October of 1996.

In order to raise the necessary financial support the CURE Foundation initiated National Denim Day in 1997. Businesses and organizations were encouraged to participate by allowing employees to wear denim at work in exchange for a suggested donation of $5.00 to the CURE Foundation.

Since its inception, CURE has helped raise over 18 million dollars for breast cancer research, education and equipment. Hundreds of thousands of Canadians have worn their jeans to their workplace, to help CURE find a way to eradicate one of the deadliest diseases threatening Canadian families.

" Wearing jeans has never been so important ! "

CURE is a national foundation that provides funding for basic and clinical research for breast cancer. Our mission is to work in tandem with women and men, health professionals, other foundations and Canadian teaching hospitals to improve breast cancer outcomes for those affected. The foundation will support researchers, laboratories, projects and equipment which can help realize these goals.
