Emily

Emily Currie is a climber and filmmaker based in Atlantic Canada, using film as a way to explore movement, challenge, and the stories that exist within climbing and women in sport. Her work focuses on documenting real, gritty, unscripted human moments.

Through filmmaking, she aims to capture authenticity, perseverance, and the importance of community.

In 2024, Emily was diagnosed with breast cancer and continued to train and create throughout treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy. Film and climbing became parallel tools for navigating recovery—one through the body, the other through

storytelling. Her journey reflects resilience, discipline, and a long-term commitment to both athletic growth and meaningful creative work. As a breast cancer survivor, she continues to climb and create with a renewed focus on strength, honesty, and

perspective.

Now, she is proud to release "20 Grit." Learn more about the Director of "20 Grit," Emily Currie, here
