Joy Rodgers

Thriver

Just after her 35th birthday, Joy discovered a lump on her breast. After a series of tests, it was confirmed that Joy had triple negative breast cancer and was a carrier of the BRCA gene mutation.

During treatment, she says, "It was all about my kids. My daughter was 6 at the time and my son was 3." Joy and her husband were committed to ensuring their lives were as normal as possible. "I never felt alone. I have the best family, friends and coworkers. I always felt loved and taken care of."

Now 2 years in remission, she shares her advice for those going through treatment for breast cancer: "Know you are going to get through it, trust your doctors and above all- don't Google!"
